All I want for Christmas….

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is three children who can reliably and independently use the potty.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.

I know this is a big wish, but it would have a large ripple effect:

  • fewer loads of kids’ laundry
  • fewer “potty parties” with all of us in a small half bath waiting while everyone takes a turn “trying” on the toilet
  • hands that aren’t so chapped from frequent washing
  • more spontaneous trips out of the house because we’d need less preparation and less baggage
  • more money to spend in other ways

  1. Amen! We started training in July 2010 and at Christmas 2010, we are 90% done. The timeline is longer with multiples- I NEVER thought I’d see success but repetition finally brought results with my boys, and it will with your kids too. Hang in there! They are so much smarter than we think and will do it when they are ready (especially the poop, which is way more challenging for us than the pee). Key strategies for me are: keeping the small potty in our minivan with some paper towels in the bottom. Yes I can be seen in many a parking lot wrangling my boys to use that little potty real quick in our minivan, before we enter our destination. It has been a lifesaver.
