Rants from Mommyland: Sweet Valley… NO.
After you read this guest post, you will forever more find your family using the term Amish Time. But that’s not the point. The point is how nasty and horrible the girls are in those Sweet Valley books we used to love. Oh, and please put in a plug for the poster to start her own blog. The world needs more. Thanks to Mommy Esq. for the recommendation!
CT Mommy Blog: Josh’s Jungle in Hamden, CT
Near our house, there’s an All Abilities park. It’s amazing, with wheelchair ramps everywhere, a wheelchair swing, textured playscapes for visually impaired children, and sensory centres for kids with autism and other sensory challenges. It’s also completely inclusive of kids without disabilities, creating a places where all sorts of children can play side by side. I never knew such things existed elsewhere, but then I saw a post on a Connecticut park that accommodated kids in wheelchairs on Yazmin’s CT Mommy Blog. Yazmin has twin girls and blogs about parenting in CT.
Here is a link to more inclusive (or “boundless”) playgrounds in CT: http://placesforkidsct.com/boundless-playgrounds/. I am most familiar with Jonathan’s Playground in West Hartford CT. Here is a lovely article by the mother of Jonathan: http://www.beliefnet.com/Inspiration/2006/05/Jonathans-Playground.aspx#
What a sweet (and heartbreaking) story. Thank you for sharing!
